About this tool
Typing speed is measured in WPM (words per minute). In the mechanical typewriter era, skilled typists held 60–80 WPM steadily, and contest champions topped 120 WPM — on machines that jammed. This test uses classic typewriter-themed passages (punctuation included, like real typing), runs for 60 seconds and shows live speed and accuracy. Aim for 100% accuracy — an old typewriter had no undo key.

FAQ
How is WPM calculated?
WPM = correct characters ÷ 5 ÷ minutes. A 'word' is estimated as 5 characters, the international standard.
Is there a Chinese passage?
This test uses typewriter-themed English passages. Chinese typing is usually measured in characters per minute with a different algorithm, so it's not included yet.
